A Unique Season
Every revival Canada has known (and there are many), had a beginning point. Every beginning point was preceded by a Spirit-led time of extraordinary prayer. We believe we are in such a season, where the call to prayer for revival is rising, and many are responding. We have no way of knowing how long the call to prayer will continue, but it is beginning in ernest in this time.
In the midst of this 3 months is a scheduled 40 day fast (Sept 13-Oct 22) for revival and the election that we want to encourage everyone to get involved in, in whatever way they can. Kirk Smith shares this vision.
There is of course, the national election on October 19, an election that could bring either blessing or tremendous difficulty into our nation. We have been praying five times a week for this election, and encourage everyone to continue to carry this in intercession.
At the end of the 3 months is the National True North conference in Edmonton, a time of intentionally drawing together an emphasis on the Spirit and the Word -- in the context of worship, with a heart toward revival. Consider the Wiggelsworth word and ask God for national breakthrough!
Prayer must increase, but there is also a spiritual swirl of opposition and God is giving some clear strategies to stand strong during this time.
- Watch over your heart. Be mindful of your weaknesses (Neh 4:13) and intentional to draw from God’s grace and strength. If you have a weakness toward gossip, sloth, greed, overeating, fear of man— whatever it is— be mindful and intentional to draw on God’s help and not stumble. Jesus actually taught us to be ruthless with our weakness so we would not sin. (Mt 15:8)
- Watch over your families. Both natural and spiritual / church families, pray and proclaim God’s provision of protection over them.
- Don’t be deterred from your assignment by resistance or discouragement. Persevere and overcome as you draw from God’s grace (Neh 6:3,4).
- Build yourself up in your most holy faith by praying in the Spirit (Jude 1:20). Praying in tongues is an important way to strengthen your inner man.
